Technology
The global problem
There is no reliable indoor emergency localisation exists.
The GPS or cellular towers & barometric pressure-based tech can not accurately locate emergency callers inside a building at floor level. Relying on Wi-Fi access, DAS small cells fail in local power outages. First responders struggle to obtain callers' automated & actionable indoor emergency location information.
The Innovation
Conventional emergency lighting only works as a glowing sign to indicate the way out in evacuation. They have come a long, long way. The first emergency lighting system originated from the Han dynasty of China in 206 BC when soldiers used fire to relay physical messages on the Great Wall. It was not until long after 1802 when Humphry Davy invented the first electric light that started to help occupants find their way out of the buildings in the early 20th century. This century-old technology falls behind the pace of today's in-building digital transformation. It is time to invigorate this century-old legacy use of lighting to meet the digital world's best to save lives. Inspired by the ancient Chinese wisdom of fire messaging, Helpluminaire® is committed to reviving the legacy of lighting to thrive. We enable lighting devices to,
* Respond to locate emergency callers,* Facilitate validating emergency incidents,
* Enhance the emergency evacuation process * Coordinate first responders' intervention.
The Solution:
An indoor locator and messenger
A plural number of lights can connect to form a local radio frequency communication network, representing each unit's spatial location of an emergency address in a building. The sensors integrated and configured in the luminaire can alert critical detections, especially the SOS triggered by phones or other user equipment. In response, at least one light node shall indicate the caller's location, including room number, floor level, and geographical coordinates. Others relay the SOS to reach the online access point. The emergency callers would have reported his indoor location should the phone/equipment used have local internet access or mobile data.
A sentinel that works in all circumstances
The emergency indoor locations must be reliable to support all events, including power outages. The common use indoor location technologies, such as WiFi access fingerprinting and tagging, must rely on at least one working WiFi AP in the RF range of the caller's equipment. Unfortunately, the WiFi access point is susceptible to commercial power cuts that will disable such an Indoor position System, risking public safety.
That is why the Helpluminaire® technology comes into play, as it sustains power outages that disable usual lighting and internet communications. In the worst-case scenarios of loss of internet, forced stay in a refuge, or being trapped inside in any incidents, including a collapse during a prolonged power outage, the RF node embedded in the lighting unit continually transmits SOS and its location data to an onsite/local 'black box' lighting unit handy for the field responder to monitor and locate the emergency.
The lighting unit, whether on or off, becomes the indoor locator and messenger for automatically reporting a distressed person's emergency location address.
It provides dispatchable emergency locations, including the validated civic street address of the calling party, plus the critical additional information such as floor level, suite, apartment, or similar information necessary to adequately identify the location of the calling party that is actionable for the emergency call centre operators and the field responders of Fire, Ambulance & Police.
